We tend to cram as much information onto a canvas as possible.
Negative space is the area around and between a subject. It is much like a pause in a conversation. Our instinct is to keep talking. Instead, we could take a moment to collect our thoughts, listen, and let the silence come.
Your audience appreciates brevity, both verbally and visually.
It takes practice, but this is where I am on the negative space spectrum. I've allowed it to become a guiding principle of my work and brand. It takes time, but challenge yourself to remove everything you can that isn't absolutely necessary.
