What is it, what is it for and how is a lead magnet made?

A lead magnet is a document, as its name suggests, that seeks to generate leads.

The best lead magnets are the ones that educate, discover and save our target time:

  1. Lists of things: Lists of tools, listings of youtube channels/podcasts, listings of books, lists of...
  2. Templates: Powerpoint, dashboards, excel, calculators,...
  3. Trick guides or "How Tos": Step-by-step guide on how to do...The three methods to achieve...How to save ....
  4. Educational Industry Reports: NICHE Trends Report where A, B and C companies reveal their strategies for Q4
  5. Business Cases: How a customer solved this problem in 3 easy steps, How he reduced his utility bill....

There are numerous options for creating lead magnets.

The most important thing is that:

  1. useful
  2. educate
  3. They position you as an expert They
  4. continuity in your email chain after downloading

How to create a lead magnet?

You can elaborate it from interviews with clients, researching posts with scope on Linkedin or my favorite, searching on Google.

You search for "The best...", "Best...", "Guide for...", "Presentations for..."

Copy the first links and mix them all.

You put your logo, link to your website and comment a little about what you do on the first page, cover or wherever you want and you already have your lead magnet.

How to know if a lead magnet is good?

To know if a lead magnet is good, YOU DO NOT NEED TO CREATE IT!!!!

Do this:

  1. Go to word or Google docs and create a cover with the title of your lead magnet
  2. Take a screenshot of the cover
  3. Create a post on Linkedin with this style:
  4. "We have been working on a document for several days that we think can really be for It's a compilation with the 27 best tools for...Would you like to receive it? Just leave me a comment and I'll send it to you"...or something similar.
  5. Upload the post to Linkedin with the cover image

If you see that it has "pull" (you must decide that based on your audience) create it with the quality it deserves (if you see mine they are super simple but there it depends a lot on your target ) and you can use it for other actions.

As you develop and test different lead magnets, which we recommend, you will know in advance which ones will work best.

Where to use a lead magnet?

In all the places where you want to get leads (this is logical right?):

  1. Your blog with a link to the download form
  2. Your paid campaigns oriented to a direct download landing (without any distraction)
  3. Your Linkedin post (you can also add it as comment if the post is related)
  4. In your webinars

In short, if the document is good, you should reuse it as much as you can and even update it with new versions (if it is a gdocs, people will appreciate it).
