The collaborative diagnostic SUMATÓN held for the Red de NODESS (Nodos de Desarrollo Social y Solidario) in Mexico, provided valuable insights into the network’s strengths and areas for improvement. With over 50 participants, the event facilitated by EmpowerLabs aimed to identify key challenges and propose innovative solutions to strengthen the network’s capacity for self-management and sustainability.



Key Highlights:
  1. Financial Support and Sustainability: Participants highlighted the need for improved financial mechanisms to ensure the long-term viability of the NODESS network, as a lack of funding currently hinders project development.
  2. Inter-Nodal Collaboration: The diagnostic revealed that cooperation between nodes needs to be enhanced, with better systems for sharing resources, knowledge, and experiences across different regions.
  3. Technological Infrastructure: Modernizing the technological support within the network is essential to streamline operations and strengthen collaboration between nodes.
  4. Training and Development: Continuous training programs were identified as critical for reinforcing operational capacities within the nodes, ensuring long-term growth and sustainability.




Challenges and Areas for Improvement:
  1. Insufficient Financial Resources: Many nodes struggle with limited funding, which affects their ability to carry out projects and maintain operational momentum.
  2. Limited Collaboration Between Nodes: There is a need for more robust inter-nodal cooperation and mechanisms to foster communication and resource-sharing.
  3. Technological Gaps: Outdated technological infrastructure has slowed down the efficiency and scalability of projects.
  4. Capacity Building: A stronger focus on training and capacity-building programs is required to help nodes develop management and operational skills.





Strategic Plan

To address these challenges, the report proposes three key strategic pillars:

  1. Strengthening Financial Support and Sustainability: Develop self-sustaining financial mechanisms and foster partnerships to ensure stable funding across the network.
  2. Enhancing Inter-Nodal Collaboration: Implement systems that encourage more frequent and effective communication, collaboration, and sharing of resources among the nodes.
  3. Innovating Technological and Training Support: Upgrade technological infrastructure and introduce training programs that focus on operational management and sustainable development.


In conclusion, while the Red NODESS has made significant strides in fostering social and economic development in Mexico, these strategic actions will further enhance its impact and ensure long-term sustainability.
