Event Rules and Penalties Please visit I ronman .com for complete IRONMAN rules. Any verbal abuse of 5i50 officials, staff or volunteers is grounds for immediate disqualification. It is the athlete's responsibility to know all aspects of the swim, bike and run courses.

1. Friends and/or family members are not allowed to cross the finish line or enter the finish corridor with participating athletes. This policy allows each athlete sufficient time to celebrate their accomplishment without interfering with other finishers and ensures the safety of all athletes, volunteers, and fans. Athletes who do not respect this policy will be automatically disqualified (DSQ).

2. Athletes are expected to follow the instructions and directions given to them by the race officials and by the authorities in charge.

3. Race officials have the authority to disqualify any athlete.

4. Medical personnel have the final and sole authority to remove the athlete from the race if they determine that the athlete is physically unable to continue the race without risk of serious injury or death. Medical transport of an athlete will result in disqualification.

5. Fraud, theft, abusive treatment of volunteers, staff and others, and actions that represent negative sportsmanship are grounds for immediate disqualification and may result in the athlete being suspended from any future IRONMAN or 5i50 event, depending on the severity of the rule violation

6. As a condition of participation in each 5i50® event, all registered athletes must acknowledge and comply with the IRONMAN Anti-Doping Policy. Pursuant to the Anti-Doping Rules, all registered athletes are subject to the rules of competition and are encouraged to learn and understand all applicable rules and obligations (including, without limitation, the World Anti-Doping Agency's anti-doping rules regarding Prohibited Substances and Therapeutic Use Exemptions) prior to participating in events. When in doubt, athletes are encouraged to ask questions and seek advice from qualified medical professionals. Please refer to the IRONMAN Rules of Competition for additional guidance and information.

7. If an athlete decides to withdraw from the race at any time, it is his or her responsibility to report to the timing tent at the finish line and turn in his or her race number and timing chip immediately. It is critical that race officials know where athletes are at all times. Failure to comply with this rule after withdrawing from the race may result in an athlete being disqualified from future IRONMAN events.

8. 5i50 reserves the right to change its rules at any time, provided that all athletes are notified in writing and/or at pre-race briefings. Notification of any changes will be made in accordance with the IRONMAN Race Rules.

9. For more information on training locations, safety procedures, and general race information, please visit the information booth.

10. Any type of communication device is strictly prohibited during the competition. The use of such devices may result in disqualification.

11. Cameras, camera phones and video cameras are prohibited unless authorized by IRONMAN. If permission is granted by IRONMAN, it is the athlete's responsibility to notify the Chief Referee prior to the start of the race. Athletes found to be carrying any of these items without authorization will be disqualified.

12. IRONMAN does not allow an athlete to transfer his or her slot to another person; no exceptions will be made to this rule. Any attempt to transfer the slot to another person will result in disqualification and suspension from all future 5i50 events.

13. Assistance may be provided by event staff or race officials but is limited to drinks, food, mechanical and medical assistance. Athletes competing in the same race may assist each other with incidental items such as food and drink after a water and pump station, tubular tires, inner tubes, and puncture repair kits. Athletes may not provide an athlete competing in the same race with any item that would cause the athlete providing the item to be unable to continue his/her own race. This includes, but is not limited to, shoes, complete bikes, frames, wheels, and helmets. The penalty for this is the disqualification of both athletes.
